ORDINARY? NO PROBLEM

I have a picture on my fridge drawn by my 3 year old daughter Remi.  She drew two odd shaped circles, one orange and one purple.  Then she drew eyes and a mouth on both followed by a black circle around the orange head and a brown circle around the purple head.  It was a picture of me and her on the Feast Day of St. Joseph!  Orange and black was me because I like orange and my hair is black.  Purple and brown was her for the same reasons.  The picture looks as much like me in real life as the description and explanation I am about to give of the Holy Spirit truly is, so bear with me it won't be near enough an accurate description but I hope it gives you a slight visual.

When I started auctioneering my first "gig" was selling a calcutta in the GYM in Lemmon.  It was a train wreck.  But praise God I was able to sell at the sale barn and help out some local auction companies.  With these "masters of the craft" behind me I felt more and more confident and able to do what I was called to do.  So imagine a green auctioneer sitting at the microphone and a master behind him to coach and teach and pass on the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the trade.  That's what it's been like for the past 8 or 9 years of my auction career and it's amazing the things I've been able to do with those gifts.

Today's reading comes from Acts 4:13-21 and Mark 16:9-15, but today I want to talk about my men Peter and John.  After the Resurrection of Christ they are going around Jerusalem speaking about Jesus!  They even healed a crippled guy (yesterday's readings)!  But then they get in trouble by the Sanhedrin, the Jewish authority of the day.  I love how the Jews seen them.  It says in verse 13, "perceiving them to be UNEDUCATED, ORDINARY MEN".  That's right.  Jesus chose guys that were ordinary dudes.  That gives me hope (hahaha).  Next the Jews are quizzing them both and said to never speak of Jesus again! But Peter says, "It is IMPOSSIBLE for us NOT to speak about what we have SEEN and HEARD" in verse 20.  They let Jesus impact them so much that there was no way they couldn't talk about him.

So what?  Here's the deal.  Many of us in the agricultural world may feel like ordinary men and very uneducated and unqualified.  Just like I felt when I began an auctioneer career, I was terrible.  The masters of the craft handed their gifts onto me, but I had to keep crawling behind the microphone.  This is just like the HOLY SPIRIT in our lives.  He will give us all the Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding to speak about all we have seen and heard!  But we have to be willing and open to let Him do it.

PRAY & OPEN your bible and read the gospels, read ACTS, for crying out loud.  Go to Mass and Confession!  Let Jesus transform your ordinaryness just like he did Peter and John.  We can't speak about something we've never experienced.  This week take the readings from Mass with you in your pocket or on your phone, and know that you are filled with his Holy Spirit. He wants you to do awesome things, just like Peter and John.  COME HOLY SPIRIT!

REAL MEN are SPIRITUAL LEADERS
Peace.
